Coated Abrasives

The aluminum oxide abrasive grains produced by DOMILL can be combined with flexible substrates of different materials and binders to produce coated abrasives of different shapes and properties, such as emery cloth, sandpaper, and scouring pad.

Coated Abrasives refers to the abrasive grains attached to the flexible substrate, such as paper, cotton or polyester cloth, film, or vulcanized fiber, also known as flexible abrasives.

The backing material after processing, gluing, scattering, drying, solidifying, to the jumbo roll, which can be converted into various types of abrasive products including sheets, discs, fiber discs , rolls, belts, flap discs and flap wheels for different usage.

The most common grains used in manufacturing jumbo rolls are aluminum oxide, silicon carbide, zirconia alumina, and ceramic. Additionally, super abrasives such as industrial diamonds are used for more specialized applications.

Coated abrasives are created with a wide range of grit sizes as well. Larger grit-sized products like 24–60 grit are best for stock removal and deburring. The 80-220 grits are commonly used for blending, surface prep and graining. Grits 280–3000 grit, will accomplish smooth surface and pre-polish finishes.

The abrasive particles used in coated abrasives are mostly in the shape of flakes or swords, so the hydrophilicity of the abrasive particles is required to be relatively high. The hydrophilicity of abrasive particles treated with calcination and coating can be significantly improved.

As one of the professional manufacturers of abrasive grain, DOMILL offers a full line of quality products and services for manufacturing coated abrasives. We are an industry leader of rich experience and the technical knowledge and manufacturing capacity to satisfy all kinds of our customers’ requirement.
